Grab 'n Go Kids Planner: 4th of July Fun

There's lots going on in south Orange County this 4th of July weekend! Put on your best red, white and blue and head out for some fun.

 JULY 4th STAR SPANGLED SPECTACULAR

Where/When: Lago Santa Margarita Beach Club, Rancho Santa Margarita. Monday, July 4, beginning at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Stay local this holiday weekend and enjoy games, activities and music at the beach club. Fireworks over the lake begin at 9 p.m.; arrive early to ensure seating on the lawn.

MISSION VIEJO STREET FAIRE AND FIREWORKS SHOW

Where/When: Olympiad/Melinda Road near Mission Viejo Lake entrance, Mission Viejo. Monday, July 4, noon to dusk.

Why Go: Kids of all ages will enjoy this local street celebration that includes carnival rides, games, free entertainment from local bands and comedians, local vendor booths and a spectacular fireworks show at dusk to complete the day.

ALISO VIEJO’S 4th OF JULY CELEBRATION

Where/When: Grand Park, 26703 Aliso Creek Road, Aliso Viejo. Monday, July 4, 6 p.m.

Why Go: Bring the kids out for a spectacular night to remember. The patriotic celebration includes live entertainment, food and drink, arts and crafts, free face painting, bounce house, a homemade apple pie contest and of course, a dazzling fireworks show at dusk.

Pricing: FREE. Food and drink available for nominal fee.

CHICK-FIL-A FAMILY NIGHTS

Where/When: Chick-Fil-A, 26792 Portola Parkway, Foothill Ranch. Mondays, 5-10:30 p.m. and Tuesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Why Go: Chick-Fil-A is famous for its original chicken sandwich, as well as its mouth-watering one-of-a-kind Chick-Fil-A sauce and fresh lemonade. On Monday nights, enjoy a sweet dessert of your choice (fudge brownie,  lemon pie, cheesecake, Ice Dream Cone or coffee) when you purchase a meal. On Tuesday night, bring the kids down for free games and crafts. Kids’ events vary from week to week; check inside local store for more information.

ABBIT CADABRA! TEEN MAGIC WORKSHOP

Where/When: Rancho Santa Margarita Library, 30902 La Promesa, Rancho Santa Margarita. Wednesday, July 6, 11-1 p.m.

Why Go: Teens ages 12-18 can enjoy magic by local magician Jeff Abbot and then learn the secrets of performing magic for their own friends and family using everyday objects. Advanced registration required; space is limited.
