Police Blotter: Blood Is On Items Thrown at Vehicle

Also, deputies help find a missing hiker, and a man sees teens kick and break sprinklers.

A Rancho Santa Margarita man said he had just parked his tan Infiniti sedan when someone in a red Chevrolet pickup truck drove past and threw something at his car, shattering its window and damaging its roof.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they examined the man’s car and found black styrofoam with splattered blood had been lobbed at the vehicle. 

Deputies contacted all hospitals in the area, hoping to find information about a patient with a bike injury, but couldn’t find any useful information about the suspects.

The call came in around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, from the 22700 block of Avenida Empresa.

A forest ranger contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Monday afternoon for assistance locating a teen who got lost while hiking above Holy Jim Falls in Trabuco Canyon. The boy’s hiking partners, who last saw the teen on top of the Holy Jim waterfall, attempted to find him, but ended up losing control of their vehicle near the waterfall. 

The teen, who had been missing for more than three hours, was found driving his red Jeep out to the base of the trail. 

The call came in around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, from Trabuco Canyon Road and Trabuco Creek Road.

Man sees teens kick and break sprinklers

A caller saw three teens kicking and breaking sprinklers in his private community behind Target in Rancho Santa Margarita late Monday evening. Deputies found the broken sprinklers, but were unable to locate the youths.

The call came in around 11 p.m. on Monday, from Paseo Vecino.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 24 to June 27.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 3:15 p.m. Monday, on Calle del Suenos. A caller said four men were doing drugs at a nearby park.

Disturbance—Music or Party 1:14 a.m. Monday, 31800 block of Joshua Drive. A caller reported hearing a loud party at a home on her street.

Disturbance—Music or Party 1:10 a.m. Monday, on Tierra Seguro. A caller said his neighbors were having a loud party in their open garage.

Disturbance—Music or Party 11:53 p.m. Sunday, on Rand Court. A caller reported hearing a loud party at a nearby residence.

Firework Violation 9:10 p.m. Sunday, on Sepulveda. A caller saw two teen-aged boys firing bottle rockets in front of his residence.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 6:14 p.m. Sunday, on Via Amistosa. A caller said someone driving a rented moving truck was dumping furniture in the parking lot of his apartment complex.

Disturbance 6:04 p.m. Sunday, on Oso Parkway and Antonio Parkway. A caller said a group of youths were smoking marijuana at the pool area near the leasing office of the Archstone apartment complex.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 4:40 p.m. Sunday, on Ingreso. A caller reported seeing a woman sitting on the ground, rocking back and forth.

Disturbance 3:57 p.m. Sunday, on Sunny Slope. A woman said she was being followed by a man in a white Infiniti. 

Disturbance 7:45 a.m. Sunday, 100 block of Timbre. A man said his girlfriend assaulted him during an argument. Deputies arrived and arrested a 33-year-old woman, who was released after posting bond from the women's Musick Facility.

Traffic Stop 5:24 a.m. Sunday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida de los Fundadores. Deputies arrested a 46-year-old man.

Disturbance—Music or Party 3:51 a.m. Saturday, on Amantes. A caller said people were blasting their car’s stereo behind his house.

Disturbance 10:50 p.m. Saturday, on Acorn Ridge. A man said someone was playing a loud video game in a nearby residence, but wouldn’t answer the door when he knocked.

Disturbance-Mechanical 12:58 a.m. Saturday, on Via Gatillo. A caller said a silver Lexus SUV’s car alarm had been blaring for two days. 

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 11:55 p.m. Friday, on San Vicente. A man wanted deputies to look for a maroon Toyota Camry that was parked at the end of his cul-de-sac. The man thought the car belonged to someone at a known drug house on the street.
