Police Blotter: Youths Shoot BB Guns at Golfers

A caller from the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet club wanted deputies to search for a group of kids who were in a backyard of one of the residences adjacent to the golf course. The youths were shooting at golfers with BB guns. Deputies found the youths and told them to stop shooting. The officers also contacted their parents.

The call came in around 5 p.m. on Thursday, from Castle Pines and Sawgrass.

Youths fire guns at targets, spray paint tunnel walls in drainage ditch

A caller said that he saw a group of youths fire real guns at targets in a drainage ditch near an apartment complex in RSM Saturday afternoon. After they were done with target practice, the kids began spray painting the walls of a tunnel inside the ditch. Deputies arrived, detained five of the youths and released them to their parents. 

The call came in around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, from Antonio Parkway and Bienvenidos.

Woman said man who detained her son was posing as a police officer

A woman said that a man detained her teenage son and his friend because he thought they were playing “ding dong ditch.” The woman was concerned because the man said that he was a police officer, but did not show his badge or any other identifying information. Deputies investigated and determined that no crime had occurred.

The call came in around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, from Pamela Lane.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from March 10 to March 13.

Disturbance 6:34 p.m. Sunday, 31800 block of Joshua Drive. A man said that he heard a man and a woman engaged in a heated argument in an apartment upstairs from him. He said that he heard the female saying that the man was oiling up his weapons. Deputies arrived and determined that it was a verbal argument, but encouraged them to separate for the night.

Family Dispute 5:30 p.m. Sunday, on St. Pierre. A woman said that her 16-year-old daughter was screaming and crying because she had to put her shoes outside of the front door.

Welfare Check 3:14 p.m. Sunday, on Pas Primero. A caller wanted deputies to check on his 60-year-old neighbor, who was blasting music from his residence but wouldn’t answer the door. 

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 11:40 p.m. Saturday, on Laurel Road and Treepath Lane. A woman said that she saw several people get into a dark green Suburban and smoke marijuana, eventually emptying their pipe onto the street. Deputies detained three individuals and released them after searching the vehicle.

Shots Heard 10:41 p.m. Saturday, on Woodsong. A caller said that someone shot a gun outside of a nearby residence.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 10:22 p.m. Saturday, on Avenida de las Flores and Santa Margarita Parkway. A man said that it looked like someone had tampered with a Bank of America ATM.

Disturbance—Music or Party 9:21 p.m. Saturday, on Riviera. A caller said that there was a loud party at a nearby residence. Deputies arrived and issued citations to nine individuals.

Traffic Accident 2:27 p.m. Saturday, on Antonio Parkway and Bienvenidos. A woman slammed her vehicle into the back wall of the Antonio Villas apartment complex. Because the 57-year-old woman was uncooperative with deputies, she was arrested and released from the Women's Intake Release Center.

Vandalism 10:30 p.m. Friday, from Grassy Knoll Lane. A woman said that a group of youths tied cans onto strings and then threw them at her car, damaging the vehicle.

Disturbance—Music or Party 8:36 p.m. Friday, on San Carlos. A caller said that he saw about 10 youths yelling and screaming profanities in front of his residence, and that the kids came from a party that was occurring down the street.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 4:11 p.m. Friday, on La Flauta. A man said that he saw someone taking pictures of children at the Chick-Fil-A in Lake Forest earlier that day.

Annoying Phone Call 12:58 p.m. Friday, on Mancera. A man said that he was in a verbal argument over the telephone with an AYSO board member.

Vandalism Report 12:39 p.m. Friday, on Islay. A man said that someone smashed the rear window of his vehicle.

Citizen Assist 10:42 a.m. Friday, 22100 block of El Paseo. A caller reported that he was in an argument with a neighbor about a tree and some unauthorized cameras on the property.

Suspicious Person 4:19 a.m. Friday, on Via Serena. A caller said that a blond man wearing baggy shorts was sitting on her front porch. 

Drunken Driving 3:40 a.m. Friday, on the 241 toll road and Oso Parkway. An ambulance dispatcher said that he saw a BMW that was swerving all over the road.

Welfare Check 10:55 p.m. Thursday, on Altamira. A woman said that her friend’s 13-year-old daughter was in a fight with her father for arriving home late. The woman said that the girl is terrified of her father, and thinks the girl should stay at her mother’s house for the night.

Assist Outside Agency 7:53 p.m. Thursday, on Antonio Parkway and Oso Parkway. The U.S. Forest Service required assistance with an intoxicated female who said that she had recently been in a fight. Deputies transported the woman to Mission Hospital.

Trespassing 7:17 p.m. Thursday, 21000 block of Los Alisos Boulevard. The leasing manager of Skyview Apartments said that six people were occupying a unit, but did not live at the complex. While investigating, deputies noticed that one of the subjects had a warrant for his arrest. They arrested a 19-year-old male, who is being held on $1,500 bail at the Central Mens’ Jail.

Fraud Report 7:11 p.m. Thursday, on Bell Canyon Drive. A caller said that he sent a wire transfer of $69,000 to an individual for the purchase of a Mercedes. The man never received the vehicle.

Warrant Arrest 5:19 p.m. Thursday, 23400 block of Vista del Verde. Deputies arrested a 43-year-old male, who is being held without bail at the Central Mens' Jail.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 5:08 p.m. Thursday, on Allyssum. A woman said that two males, clad in gym shorts and tank tops, were going door-to-door, selling unknown items, but weren’t carrying anything. Deputies briefly detained the men before releasing them.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 4:46 p.m. Thursday, on Antonio Parkway and Santa Margarita Parkway. A man was seen sleeping in his vehicle, which was parked next to Rite Aid.

Citizen Assist 1:11 p.m. Thursday, 100 block of Seacountry Lane. A man wanted to speak with a deputy about a threatening letter that he had received.
