Ruby Jane's Tiny Heart Gives Way

The 'Little Jewel' whose parents struggled to find her a liver donor loses her battle.

Ruby Jane Taylor, whose story captivated a community that followed a young Rancho Santa Margarita family's struggle to find a liver donor, died Thursday in Los Angeles, according to a family friend.

Ruby Jane, a little more than 7 months old, had gone to UCLA Medical Center on June 29 and had remained there because of her deteriorating condition. It was during that week that Patch detailed the Taylors' story in an article,

The community was wildly supportive of parents Ani and Matt Taylor and their older daughter, Kate, 3. However, Ruby Jane's small size made the real need—a liver donor—difficult to find.
