Whiz Kid Accomplishment: Won Homecoming Queen, serves as ASB president, directs the Comedy Sportz Team and stands out in the classroom and on the sports field.
Key to Awesomeness: Kaiulani Bush knows a thing or two about hard work. She has, in fact, been working hard since her freshman year at Trabuco Hills High, where she has been involved in drama, film study, cheer, basketball and varsity track and field. A senior, Kai was selected Homecoming Queen, an honor that showcases her wide variety of talents and school participation. In addition to sports, Kaiulani carries many responsibilities as ASB President.
But if you ask Kaiulani, or “Kai” as her friends call her, she’ll tell you one of the on-campus activities she enjoys most is the Comedy Sportz Team, of which she’s been a member since her sophomore year. Kai is team manager of the sports team, which is made up of herself and 11 other Trabuco students. This team performs for the community roughly once a month, engaging in a variety of improv games and comedy acts in a similar format to the popular TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The “actletes” enjoy taking suggestions from the audience and turning them into spontaneous, laughable moments on stage. As team manager, Kai’s job is to direct practices and take in feedback from other kids about past and upcoming performances. While this team performs mostly for fun, competitions also exist in this arena.
Kai takes her passion for others into the community as well. This past year, she ran a drive that raised 3,000 pairs of shoes for people in need in her local community.
Kai’s extra-curricular involvement and excellent grades have helped open up several options for college next year. Currently, she is looking at schools in Santa Cruz, Washington State and New York. For her contagious school spirit and pride, as well as her dedication in the classroom and around campus, Kaiulani Bush makes an outstanding Whiz Kid.
