Chance of Thunderstorms Tonight and a Cold Storm Next Week

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms through Saturday, and more rain could be on its way next week.

Fall officially rang in uneventfully last Friday.

However, some dramatic shifts in weather forecast for the next week will make summer seem long gone.

It begins tonight in Orange County with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. “Unsettled” weather will continue into the weekend with a slight chance of rain through Sunday as moisture from Hurricane Hillary spreads into the region.

In Rancho Santa Margarita, there is a 20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms through Saturday.

By mid next week, National Weather Service meteorologists expect an unseasonable cool Pacific storm to blow into the area from Northern California, bringing rain and temperatures 20 degrees below normal.

The extended forecast for RSM calls for a chance of drizzle Tuesday night and chance of rain on Wednesday.
