Cox Continues Free Services to Japan Through March

Company is offering free texting and direct-dial phone service to Japan through March 31 in wake of earthquake and tsunami.

Cox Communications is continuing to offer communication relief to its customers in Southern California who have family and friends in earthquake-ravaged Japan.

As such, direct dial calls to Japan via Cox Long Distance placed through March 31 will be free. Cox Wireless customers in OC can text free to Japan through the end of the month.

TV Japan, normally a subscription premium channel, is still available through March 31 at no charge on CH 422 in Orange County, 450 in Palos Verdes, and 400 in San Diego.

"It's important we try to take care of our customers at this extraordinary time," said Duffy Leone, senior vice president of operations for Cox California. "Our motto is 'Cox Cares' and this is one way of showing it. We don't want to profit from a tragedy such as this."
