In 1922, the founder of company that built the heavy-duty Mack Truck died when his car collided with a trolley; the company was renamed after John "Jack" Mack posthumously. In 1958, Perry Como received the first gold record for "Catch a Falling Star"; Elvis had the third, with "Hard-Headed Woman." In 1980, a Polish Airlines jet crashed attempting to land in Warsaw, Poland, and killed 22 members of the U.S. Olympic boxing team.
