Video: First Children and Youth Summit Receives Glowing Approval

Orange County Supervisor Pat Bates' brainchild comes to fruition, and it seems very popular as it helps parents learn about keeping their kids safe.

The first of what Orange County Supervisor Pat Bates hopes will be many annual events, the O.C. Children and Youth Summit took place Friday morning in Rancho Santa Margarita.

With the as the backdrop, about 100 parents or grandparents showed up to listen to Bates, child development expert Dr. Kate Bono from Cal State Fullerton who admitted that parenting needn't be perfect, and panel experts on issues relevant to particular age groups.

The theme of the summit was "Healthy Families, Healthy Futures," and when it was over, it appeared the only disappointment was that there wasn't more available.
