Grab 'n' Go Kids Planner: Movies, Bubbles and Skates

Spring may be here, but the weather is unpredictable. We've got your weekend plans covered with both indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family.

O.C. GREAT PARK MOVIE NIGHT

Where/When: Orange County Great Park, Marine Way off Sand Canyon, Irvine. Saturday, April 2, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Your family can enjoy a free night of fun as you watch the movie How to Train your Dragon. This wonderful animated movie is rated PG and appropriate for the whole family. Bring a blanket or chairs and watch the big screen under the stars.

Where/When: 27741 Crown Valley Pkwy., Mission Viejo (inside the Kaleidoscope Mall). Open Monday through Thursday, 10-6 p.m., Friday, 10-8 p.m., Saturday, 10-7 p.m. and Sunday, 11-7 p.m.

Why Go: Don’t let the unpredictable weather stop your kids from having a little fun this weekend! Jump 'n Jammin is an indoor play place unlike any other. Kids will love bouncing through the Foam Factory, climbing the rock wall, and so much more. Jump 'n Jammin was voted Nickelodeon’s Parent Pick two years in a row.

Pricing: $12 admission per person; children 2 and under are $5 or free with paying sibling. Adults receive one free admission per child.

DISCOVERY SCIENCE CENTER

Where/When: 2500 N. Main St., Santa Ana. Open daily.

Why Go: On Saturday, April 2, receive free admission to this hands-on museum when you show your Bank of America card. April 2 also marks the first day of the new Bubblefest XV exhibit. What parent doesn’t love "free," and what kid doesn’t love bubbles?

EGGSTRAVAGANZA AT IRVINE PARK

Where/When: Irvine Park, 1 Irvine Park Rd., Orange. Open 9-5 p.m. weekdays, 9-6 p.m. weekends. Eggstravaganza event begins Saturday, April 2, and runs through Easter.

Why Go: Eggstravaganza at Irvine Park is one of Orange County’s most anticipated spring events. Children of all ages will enjoy Easter egg hunts, visiting and getting a photo taken with the Easter Bunny; and enjoying the moon bounce, hay rides, train rides, Easter cookie decorating, carnival games and face painting. Egg hunts are broken into select times for varying age groups; it is suggested parents arrive early for best results.

Pricing: Each event requires one to two tickets. Tickets are $4 each.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA SKATE PARK

Where/When: Canada Vista Park, 24328 Antonio Pkwy., Rancho Santa Margarita. Open daily from 7 a.m. to dusk.

Why Go: Finding things for teens to do can be a bit challenging. Rancho Santa Margarita Skate Park is one answer to the dilemma. The 15,000-square-foot park includes a 9-foot pool, ledges, ramps, steps and hips, catering to both experienced and beginning skaters. Helmets and skate gear required.
