Grab 'n Go Kids Planner: Racing, Painting and Dancing

This week, leave the boredom at home and head out for a little fun. We've got something for everyone in your house, from toddlers to teens.

Where/When: Color Me Mine Studio, 22312 El Paseo Plaza, Suite G, Rancho Santa Margarita. Friday, May 13, 5-9 p.m.

Why Go: Color Me Mine is a ceramic painting studio like no other, a place where both parents and kids can come together and bond over colors and creativity. This Friday night, you and your kids can shimmy into your pajamas and scoot down to the studio after 5 p.m., where you can enjoy 50 percent off the studio fee and paint the night away. From platters to puppies and mermaids to mugs, Color Me Mine truly has a piece for every occasion, age and taste. All items are fire glazed, resulting in a beautiful, lasting finish; the materials are non-toxic, lead-free and food safe too!

COSTA MESA SPEEDWAy 43rd SEASON OPENER

Where/When: Costa Mesa Speedway, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa. Saturday, May 14, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The new Fast and the Furious movie has nothing on this exciting, nailbiting event for the whole family. Sponsored by Mission Motorsports, this speedway event features motorcycles racing around the oval track at breathtaking speeds. Kids will hang on the edge of their seats as 4 to 6 riders line up on their bikes elbow to elbow and go from 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds. On most given nights, kids can have a chance to meet their favorite riders and get autographs in the pit. Freestyle motorcross jumpers, side cars, demolition derbies and Harley and chopper races are often available throughout the season. For this event, gates open at 6 p.m.; first race begins at 7:30 p.m.

Pricing: Tickets at the gate are $15 for general admission,$10 for juniors age 13-17, $5 for children age 3-12 and 2 and under are free.

JOHN ABRAMS’ ANIMAL MAGIC SHOW

Where/When: Crown Valley Community Park, 29751 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel. Friday, May 13, 7 p.m.

Why Go: The whole family will enjoy this unique magic show that combines comedy, magic, music, audience participation and live exotic animals. This multimedia experience features at least four live animals ranging from doves to tarantulas, tortoises to bunnies, flying squirrels to snakes and more!

Pricing: $5 per person.

CHILDREN’S HULLABALOO CONCERT

Where/When: Aliso Viejo Grand Park/Town Center Ampitheater, Aliso Creek Road and Pacific Park Drive. Thursday, May 12, 11-11:45 a.m.

Why Go: Kids got the wiggles? They can dance them all out at this fun and free concert geared toward moms and their young children. Hullabaloo band members write songs that make kids laugh, think, sing, dance, clap and stomp their feet. It’s sure to be a hoppin’ good time!

MY GYM PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT

Where/When: My Gym, 31991 Dove Canyon Drive, Suite G, Trabuco Canyon. Friday, May 13, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Why Go: You could hire a sitter for a night out on the town, or you could take your kids to My Gym, where they can bounce and play the night away in an exciting setting. My Gym offers fun and educational games and activities, as well as dinner and drinks, while parents enjoy a much deserved night away. Call ahead to make reservations, as space fills up quickly for these once-a-month events.

Pricing: $10/hour per first child; $5/hr per additional sibling/s. Non members pay $12.5/hr; each sibling is $7.5/hr.
