Grab 'n Go Kids Planner: Rodeo, Food Fest and Campfire Fun

RANCHO MISSIO VIEJO RODEO

Where/When: Oaks Blenheim Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park, 30753 La Pata Road, San Juan Capistrano. Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28.

Why Go: Dubbed the richest 2-day rodeo in the nation, this fun event for the whole family includes saddle and bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding and team roping. All proceeds benefit local charities. Get ready to hold onto your hats!

Pricing: $20/adults, $10/kids age 4-12, kids age 3 and under are free.

AQUARIUM OF THE PACIFIC SATURDAY FAMILY FUN

Where/When: Aquarium of the Pacific, 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach. Saturday, August 27, 10-11:30 a.m.

Why Go: This Saturday Family Fun program features Magnificent Marine Mammals. Preschool kids age 4-6 and their parents will enjoy learning about whales, sea lions and sea otters in this educational, interactive mommy and me class. Spend the rest of the day browsing and taking in the sights at this beautiful aquarium.

Pricing: $36/parent and child pair. Admission to the aquarium is included.

KIDS CAMPFIRE PROGRAM

Where/When: Crown Valley Community Park, 29751 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel. Saturday, August 27, 6 p.m.

Why Go: Kids age 6-13 will enjoy a special evening under the stars that includes a night hike on the park trails, campfire songs , dinner and marshmallows roasted on an open fire.

Pricing: FREE

OC FOODIE FEST

Where/When: Angels Stadium of Anaheim. Saturday, August 27, 12-6 p.m.

Why Go: Whether it’s some home town cookin’ or some fresh ice cream your family is craving, you’re sure to find it at the OC Foodie Fest. Last year, thousands showed up for this one of a kind event, and this year, it’s shaping up to be even bigger with 150 food truck vendors. The Bakery Truck will be there with their famous cream puffs, Bacon Mania will be on site with everything bacon you can imagine, and Barbie’s Q will be cooking up some old fashioned barbecue. Event includes live entertainment, car show and a fun kids’ area.

Pricing: General adult admission is $12, or family four packs run $30 and include 2 adult tickets and two kids’ tickets.

DOLLAR MOVIES

Where/When: Woodbridge Movies 5, 4626 Barranca Parkway, Irvine. Daily showtimes vary.

Why Go: Beat the heat and high movie ticket prices and head down to this theater to catch up on your favorite summer flicks. Currently playing: Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides and Kung Fu Panda 2. Don’t forget your dollar hot dogs while you’re there!

Pricing: $2 per ticket; $1 per ticket on Tuesdays. 3D movies are $4.
