PRESCHOOL STORY TIME
Where/When: Rancho Santa Margarita Library, 30902 La Promesa, Rancho Santa Margarita. Mondays at 11 a.m., Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Why Go: Kids age 3-5 will enjoy stories, crafts and other special activities geared just toward their age at this weekly event.

IRVINE GLOBAL VILLAGE FESTIVAL

Where/When: Bill Barber Park, 4 Civic Center Plaza, Irvine. Saturday, October 1, 10-6 p.m.
Why Go: This fun festival for the whole family represents 50 different cultures and includes dancers, international cuisine, hands on art projects, games, puppet shows and much more.
Pricing: Admission is FREE. Tasting tickets are $1 each.
FAMILY RECREATION DAY
Where/When: OC Great Park, Irvine. Sunday, October 2, 11-2 p.m.
Why Go: Children and adults alike will enjoy learning the strategy of the game croquet and then challenging each other to a few games. Meet on the North Lawn.

OC CHILDREN’S BOOK FESTIVAL
Where/When: Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. Sunday, October 2, 9:30-4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Over 20,000 people visit this popular book festival each year, geared specifically to children. Authors, including celebrity Molly Shannon (Tilly the Trickster) and illustrators will be on site to entertain kids. Animals, costumed characters, a trackless train, crafts, food and an opportunity to buy books of all genres will be available during this special day.

ANNUAL SAND CASTLE CONTEST
Where/When: Corona Del Mar Beach, Marguerite and Ocean Blvd, Corona Del Mar. Sunday, October 2, 11 a.m.
Why Go: Come out and enjoy a beautiful day at the beach while watching some of the finest architects—down to novice children—participate in the 50th annual Sand Castle Contest, sponsored by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce.
