It's giggles, laughs and feelings of triumph, but we're reminded of the realities of war as an American casualty hits home. Also, a joltin' cup of Joe, and a Monkee catches a train.

1. The saddest kind of news hits Rancho Santa Margarita as Jordan Stanton is identified as the U.S. Marines serviceman killed last Friday during combat in Afghanistan. Cpl. Stanton was 20. We're going to try to learn more about Stanton today. The news comes the same day we publish the, a student of Santa Margarita Catholic who received the President's Volunteer Service Award for his work with the Saddleback Young Marines.

2. Talk about doubling up, the victory Monday by the girls' soccer team at Santa Margarita Catholic was the 300th for Coach Chuck Morales. The four goals by Lauren Bohaboy in an 8-0 victory over Northridge Academy in the first round of the Southern Regional Division II championships gave the senior 100 goals in her career. 5. As primates go, Mickey Dolenz rides the last train to Clarksville to age 65; others celebrating birthdays today are Canadian pop group The Moffatts (26), which would be Bob Clint and Dave; James Van Der Beek (33), Freddie Prinze Jr. (34) and Aidan Quinn (51). Others include the late Lynn Redgrave (19040), Cyd Charisse (1923) and Best Supporting Actress of 1948 Claire Trevor (1909) for her role in Key Largo.
