'I Do' ... Attend A Royal Wedding Party

Laurie Hendron and her friends enjoyed tea and scones, critiqued the hats, and watched the British event of the year. Did you?

It was sometime between 3 and 4 a.m. in Rancho Santa Margarita Friday when Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot with all the British pomp and circumstance the royal family could muster.

The dress? It was killer.

The bride? She was ravishing.

The groom? He's going to need Hair Club for Men.

Had the Brits been a little more keen to the rest of the world—us, mostly—they might have had an afternoon wedding. Instead, milking the day for all it was worth, it forced people to trudge to viewing parties in the middle of the night. Thank goodness for the DVR. Laurie Hendron of Trabuco Canyon still managed to attend a Royal Wedding party to watch the Royal Wedding Party and not lose any beauty sleep over it.

There was tea, and scones, and hats. And Hendron even took some pictures of the Tesoro High band moms who gathered together for their version of the Super Bowl. There were no tears among the ladies, but "collective sighs" when they first saw Pippa, Kate, William, and the kiss. The rewind button got a workout, too, as they tried to read lips when William spoke off the cuff to Kate during the ceremony.

"We provided our own commentary and enjoyed experiencing a part of history that we just don't have here in the U.S.," Hendron said, a comment that risks hurting Chelsea Clinton's feelings.

But she's right. As weddings go, the British monarchy does a pretty good job of working everyone into a lather.

So, we have on record at least one south Orange County Royal Wedding Party.

Were there others? If you took part in the big event, share your photos with your neighbors at Patch. Just upload the pics, write a little caption, and record for history that you were there—even if you used the DVR.
