Moms Talk: Little Superstars

Check out the latest gab from moms who have been there, done that. Then tell us what YOU think below!

Each week, Moms Talk looks at a question about parenting and invites discussion. Agree or disagree, throw in your two cents!

Q: My son is only 5, but I'm already feeling "behind." My friends have their kids in at least two activities each and say it makes them well rounded. I say it makes them tired! My kid is happy playing Legos after school. Am I missing the boat?

A: If I remember correctly, there were no superstar soccer leagues and mini-Philharmonic symphonies growing up. We took turns playing in friends' back yards, sucked on homemade Popsicles, watched cartoons and turned out just fine. It's good to keep kids busy, but they usually have no problem doing it on their own. Give them an hour or two of freedom and the imaginations come out. I'm not knocking sports and music classes, but if your son is happy building Lego trucks all day, I say let him. All that stuff will come in due time.
