1. Todd Sousa, the private swim coach who is charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student, is apparently back in business. Sousa's Swim Venture has been shut down, but Sousa appears to now be involved with a business called Atlantis Aquatics Swim School. Read the .

2. Without question, the best class at Santa Margarita Catholic High is Model United Nations. Earlier this year the class went to France. Last month, it went to China. How's that for a field trip? , and the Eagles—the only U.S. delegation there—was the most highly decorated.

3. There is a regularly scheduled City Council meeting tonight, and though there will be some talk of the budget, in an attempt to find a replacement for Gary Thompson, who vacated his seat last month.

4. On this day in history, April 13, 1742, Handel's "Messiah" debuted in Dublin, Ireland. In 1964, Sidney Poitier became the first African American to win an Academy Award—for best actor—for Lilies of the Field. In 2009, former all-star pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych—famous for talking to the baseball—was killed when a truck he was working on fell on top of him; he would have been 55 the following day. In 1970, an oxygen tank aboard Apollo 13 exploded, prompting a heroic effort to return the three astronauts to earth alive—an event that  took place four days later.

5. Thomas Jefferson (1743), Howard Keel (1919) and Agent 86 Don Adams (1926) were born on this date. Among the living, those celebrating a birthday today are Rick Schroeder (41), chess master Garry Kasparov (48), Max Weinberg (60), Al Green (65), Beaver's older brother Tony Dow (66) and Lyle Waggoner (76).
