If you aren’t checking out one of the many Easter services at Saddleback Church this year, try staying local and enjoy a more intimate service at The Gate Church. This non- denominational church’s motto is “There are no strangers here, only friends we haven’t met yet.” No need to don your best Easter dress; attire is “come as you are.” Services are held at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Childcare is available.

HOP, THE MOVIE

Edwards 6 Cinemas, 30632 Santa Margarita Parkway, Rancho Santa Margarita

There have been plenty of Santa Claus family flicks, but until recently, the ol’ Easter bunny hasn’t been given much screen time. HOP changes this; it mixes live action with animation, resulting in a film that is sure to please the whole family. Starring Russell Brand, Kaley Cuoco and James Mardsen, this movie is rated PG.

SPRING FLING

Bring the whole family down to the center of town for fun activities and food in an old fashioned Easter celebration. A petting zoo, pony rides, crafts, carnival games, bounce houses and face painting are available on site. An egg hunt will take place throughout the afternoon; kids will hunt in designated age groups. Food will be available from popular local vendors including Baja Fresh, Kettle Korn and Kurts Hot Dog Catering. Cash only for food; all activities are free.
