Storm Dumps More Than Half-Inch of Rain on South County

Flash-flood watch in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday.

A storm out of the Gulf of Alaska now hovering over the Southland is likely to cause unstable conditions and rainfall throughout the day.

Between 4 p.m. Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday, Lake Forest got 0.50 of an inch, while Irvine received 0.28 of an inch, according to the National Weather Service. The rainfall total for Rancho Santa Margarita was 0.15 of an inch.

Orange County remains on a flash-flood watch until 1 p.m. Sunday.

More showers are expected this afternoon and evening, according to the NWS. Thunderstorms and waterspouts also are possible.

This evening, up to 4 inches of snow is expected at elevations as low as 3,500 feet.
