Tesoro Extension Needs Voices in San Diego

OPINION: Public opposition to the 241 extension figures to be strong as a San Diego agency considers one of the last permits for the project. Local voices supporting the project are vital.

The Tesoro Extension is closer than ever. It's now time we band together to bring this vital, jobs-producing road to reality.

The San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board will meet Wednesday morning and may issue one of the last permits before construction can begin on the extension, bringing more than 2,000 jobs South Orange County.

The agency needs to hear from the local community as to why this road is so important. To make your voice heard, register for the bus trip to San Diego.

The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board at 9174 Sky Park Court, San Diego, 92123.

Even the Regional Board staff sees the merit of TCA's application and just gave its full-throated recommendation to approve TCA's permit application. This is good news!

But opponents of the road - special interests from outside the state and even the country - are pledging to stack the room with "hundreds of people" to "shut down the road" at Wednesday's hearing.

We can't let these opponents be the only voice in the room. We've come so far in helping to bring this road, its jobs, quality of life benefits and public safety enhancements to our region.

We need you at the hearing.

Join us Wednesday as we head to San Diego to advocate one last time for the Tesoro Extension.  We are travelling down together on a bus with a couple pick-up points in South OC.

If you've ever hoped for alternatives to the gridlocked I-5, for a job-creating project and enhanced public safety in our region, now is the time to act.

Join us Wednesday to help make this road a reality.
