The Bridge Church Serves God—And Food

The Rancho Santa Margarita church and its partners unveil a monthly food pantry on Thursday for South Orange County folks who need help on groceries.

Local families who are struggling to put food on the table will get a helping hand on Thursday when The Bridge and other churches unveil their first food pantry giveaway.

About 10,000 pounds of food are available for those who could use a little extra this month. The giveaway is from 3-6 p.m.

The Bridge serves as the host site at its Tomas location, but is partnering with St. John's Episcopal, His House in the Canyons, The Bell Tower Foundation, Fellowship in Business, Image1Impact and the Stone Creek Co.

"We welcome anyone in need in the South OC area, including RSM, Ladera Ranch, Mission Viejo and Lake Forest," said Eugene Bachelder, who is part of the pantry ministry at The Bridge. "If you know of someone in your neighborhood who needs help, please let them know about this resource."

It is intended the pantry giveaways be the third Thursday of each month. The next event is scheduled for May 16 from 1-6 p.m.

"We'd like to get it up to twice a month, and if the need continues to grow and we need to go to four times a month, we can do that too," Bachelder said.

For businesses interested in tax-deductible participation, a $300 event sponsorship will cover 10,000 pounds of food and include a banner for that event. For more sponsorship information, contact Chris O'Connor at ChrisAOConnor84@gmail.com or Eugene Bachelder at ebach33@gmail.com.
