Was That Snow in Rancho?

It was cold Sunday night and Monday morning in Rancho Santa Margarita. Really cold.

Is that snow in the backyard? That's what residents in Robinson Ranch thought Monday morning when they looked out the back and saw a blanket of white—albeit a fairly shallow blanket—on the frozen tundra.

Others, such as those in Dove Canyon, experienced hail at about 1:30 a.m. as the weather took a deep breath and blew a chill across the landscape.

The National Weather Service reported a low temperature of 34 degrees at 4:08 a.m., and again at 5:08 a.m., Monday morning before beginning to warm up. That's not freezing, but it's close.
