Key to Awesomeness: Patrick Brahney is no stranger to helping others. Since joining Cub Scouts four years ago, Patrick has not only excelled at his own achievements and ranks but has also voluntarily helped with a number of recruiting and orientation meetings for new scouts. He has proactively recruited many of his own friends to join scouting as well.
Patrick achieved Webelos rank this past year and is on track to complete all 20 Webelos achievements. These achievements include both Catholic awards available for Cub Scouts: The Light of Christ and Parvuli Dei. Most notably, Patrick earned the “You Make a Difference” coin for helping his sister’s American Heritage Girl Troop earn their Outdoors Skills badge during an event that included first-aid training and knot tying. Patrick and his pack have made a strong effort to include their sister siblings in scouting activities, thus defying the stereotypical “sibling rivalry” factor. His pack also played a major role in helping the girls form American Heritage Girl Troop 818 this past year.
When he is not attending scouting events, Patrick enjoys playing soccer for AYSO and works hard as a student at Serra Catholic, where he excels at math and reading. He is studying engineering and would like to someday design roller coasters.
For his proactive spirit and dedication to both Cub Scouts and the American Heritage Girl Troop, Patrick Brahney is a stand-out candidate for this week’s Whiz Kid.
