Whiz Kid Achievement: Was nominated for, and accepted into, the Tech Trek science camp program for girls this summer at UC Irvine.

Key to Awesomeness: From her school spirit to her honors classes, Clara Nguyen is the epitome of a "well rounded" middle school student. An eighth grader at Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate, Clara was nominated by her science teacher, David Bedell, to attend the Tech Trek camp at UC Irvine this summer. This week-long camp is designed just for girls and intended to give them a true university campus experience as they enjoy hands-on activities in the subjects of math, science and computers. Clara focused on the science portion of the camp and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Clara plays flute in the school jazz band and enjoys performing in concerts. She has also taken piano lessons in the past. In addition to the band, Clara participates in the ASB student leadership and helps organize student activities and events. She is also in honors geometry and volunteers at the local library in her spare time. Her principal, Dr. Richard Jameson, describes her as “a great student with an wonderful attitude.” For her dedication to Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate and her community, Clara Nguyen is an outstanding choice for this week’s Whiz Kid.
