Bruxie, Patrons Honor Girl With Donation to Family

Kabrina Cressey's best friend organizes an event that raises more than a thousand dollars for her family.

Local residents and a local restaurant recently teamed together to raise more than a thousand dollars for the family of Kabrina Cressey.

Bruxie Restaurant, a gourmet waffle sandwich shop that opened in Rancho Santa Margarita in May, played host to the fundraiser. It offered the "Kabrina Special" as a featured dish for a reduced price for patrons during the Oct. 6 event.

Cressey, who was 15 when she succumbed to cancer on Aug. 29, often ate a Bruxie Burger with grilled onions and a strawberry lemonade at the original Bruxie in Orange while she underwent chemotherapy at Children's Hospital of Orange. She introduced the waffle sandwiches to many of the hospital personnel with whom she came into contact, as well as some friends and family.
