Business Drought? Four Ribbon Cuttings in 10 Days

City leaders are in Las Vegas, where there's even more good news.

Is business thriving in Rancho Santa Margarita? It is over the next couple of weeks.

According to RSM Chamber of Commerce president Suzanne Singh, there will be four grand openings or reopenings of local businesses during a 10-day period ending June 1.

"It's a really good sign that our economy is doing really well and people are willing to invest back into our community," Singh said by telephone from Las Vegas, where she is in attendance with some city leaders at the International Council of Shopping Centers convention.

For those who want to catch up:

  • The Dove Canyon Golf Club will have a grand reopening on Thursday, 6:15 p.m., at 22682 Golf Club Drive.
  • L.A. Boxing will have a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, 12:30 p.m., and 30102 Santa Margarita Parkway.
  • Nekter Juice Bar will have a grand opening on Saturday, June 1, at 10:30 a.m., at its location at 22361 Antonio Parkway.
  • Hand and Stone Massage Place will have a grand opening on June 1, at 12:30 p.m., at 30162 Santa Margarita Parkway.
"It's amazing how RSM is doing so well," Singh said. "I'm sitting here at a retail convention and everyone I talk to knows about our city and wants to be here. We're on the map. They want to be here, they just need to figure out a way to be here and have a space."

One of the primary complaints about Rancho Santa Margarita business space is its cost—that's the primary reason Ballpark Pizza Team moved to Mission Viejo after 20 years in RSM. Based on what she has seen in Vegas, Singh said every storefront in RSM could be filled if landlords were willing to reduce costs and provide upgrades they are responsible for.

Also on the trip are city council members Tony Beall, Carol Gamble, city manager Jennifer Cervantez and director of development services Kathleen Haton.

The chamber is fresh off presenting a very well-attended Meet the Mayor event last week at Tijeras Creek Golf Club, and on June 8-9 will play host to RanchoFest, which is expected to draw thousands over the weekend.
