Cox Extends Free Service to Japan Through April 10

Cox Communications offering free phone and texting service to Japan in wake of earthquake tragedy.

Due to the enthusiastic response of its free calling program to Japan, Cox Communications announced Wednesday that it will extend the digital telephone and wireless calling program through April 10.

In addition, Cox Wireless customers can continue to send text messages to Japan during this period free of charge. This program includes Cox Digital Telephone calls to both landline and cellular telephones dialed to country code 81.

The program is automatic for all Cox Wireless customers with international calling and residential Cox Digital Telephone customers with Cox Long Distance.

"Our customers are finding great value in this program and we are very proud that we can continue to make it easier for them to get in touch with their friends and family in Japan during and after this terrible tragedy," said Duffy Leone, senior vice president of operations for Cox California.
