Slideshow: In-N-Out Gets Down-N-Dirty

Demolition begins at the site where the much-anticipated burger icon will rise from what used to be an auto dealership parking lot.

It's easy to drive by and miss it, but Rancho Santa Margarita's most anticipated drive-thru is finally on the road to completion.

In-N-Out Burger, the Southern California icon that is building a restaurant on the corner of Santa Margarita Ford, began demolition last week on the site. They are the first steps toward what will eventually be Double-Double bliss.

It will be about three weeks before anything is actually built on the site. The schedule figured to be one week for demo, another week for the sub-grade, and a third week to dig the retention base for storm drain water.

Inclement weather could obviously wreak havoc with a build schedule, but the hope of the restaurant is that it's flipping burgers by the end of the year.

Currently, the site is fenced off and a vinyl sign promises good eats ahead.
