Go Inside Cinépolis, RSM's New Theater

Patch goes inside the luxury theater that will open next month in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Can't wait to see The Hobbit on the big screen? Here's something to hold you over. Patch went inside the Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas in Rancho Santa Margarita, and it's a far cry from the old Edwards Cinema Six that it replaced.

High-end finishes reminiscent of a Beverly Hills hotel are the hallmark of the theater, which is scheduled to open on Dec. 14, just in time for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The construction of Cinepolis and the courtyard in front of it has provided the Mexico-based theater chain—the fourth-largest in the world—with its own unexpected journey. The original finish date was supposed to be Sept. 1, and it kept getting pushed back, mostly because the outdoor area wasn't ready.

Crews of about 15 to 20 will begin working 10 hours a day six days a week next to get the courtyard ready for the opening, though some landscaping probably won't get done until after Dec. 14.

The theater will employ 80 to 100 people, and those interested in applying for jobs can do so on the company website at CinepolisUSA.com.

The Rancho Santa Margarita Cinepolis will be the company's fifth to open in the United States; others are in La Costa, Del Mar, Laguna Niguel and Westlake Village.

The interior of the 30,960 square foot building has been done for about a month. It features granite and marble tile and several big-screen televisions, a bar, and dining areas in the lobby, upstairs and outside.

The six theaters will hold 480 customers in oversized reclining leather chairs; the original plan called for seating for 488.

So while you're waiting on The Hobbit, check out the photos of Cinepolis.

Glad it will finally open but sounds like someone screwed up. First it was end of summer, then in October, then end of November. Finally, December 14, sad to see them lose the thanksgiving rush as well. Hope this isn't a foreshadowing of things to come.

My family was in the car and we looked at every picture. (I wasn't driving) I'm glad to hear they are an existing company. I hope they will make it financially. It looks expensive. I would love to know what the ticket prices are going to be.

If you buy tickets online for the Laguna Niguel location, the price is $19.50 + .50 cent service charge.

I have no intention of wasting any money on this Mexican-owned, grossly overpriced, movie theater. Anyone bothered to look at the reviews on Yelp for the new Cinepolis in Laguna Niguel? Huge numbers of unhappy customers are complaining about the horrendous ticket prices, awful customer service, horrible food, filthy bathrooms . . . the lists of complaints go on and on. I've never seen a business with such a large number of horrible ratings in just their first six months of operation.
What clowns decided to get rid of Regal Cinemas that had faithfully served the RSM community for so many years? Regal provided the community with a good family friendly local movie theater - now we have to go to Foothill Ranch if we want to see a movie. That's not going to change when (or if) Cinepolis ever opens their doors. Bring back family-friendly businesses, like Regal Cinemas. We don't need no sticken' over-priced "luxury theaters" that sells stale nachos.

We went to the Laguna Niguel Cinepolis last week. Food was good; drinks were good; service was good; bathrooms were fine. Atmosphere was mellow, no teenagers, quiet, no sticky floors, no trash on the floors. Prices were reasonable for what you got.

Hopefully the prices will keep out Rancho's juvinile vandals and we can enjoy a pristine venue.

CINEPOLIS IS FABULOUS. OBVIOUSLY NOT FOR EVERYONE. SUPERCLEAN. FOOD WAS FINE--THE SLIDERS WERE GREAT. BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SEAT: JUST LIKE FIRST CLASS FLYING. DON'T THINK I CAN GO COACH AGAIN.

I've been apart of the Cinépolis in Laguna Niguel and I can say with confidence that they have made a dramatic 180 since a month or two ago. I think the theater is exactly what RSM needs. If you want to pay less and and get horrible seats with no perks? Foothill is 15 min away. Cinepolis is worth the price you pay and it's an authentic experience you can't get anywhere else,

I would love if a $2 theater were in the area. I am looking forward to the cinepolis opening but I won't go very often.

Beautiful upscale movie theatre. Very clean!!! The waitors are attentive. It's a bit pricey, but the service here makes it well worth it.
