Local Business Invested in Safety and Health For All

Local business President/CEO Marjorie Del Toro cares about worker safety both on and off the job. She founded her first safety training and consulting firm after the death of her uncle on a construction site. Over 15 years later, ehs International, Inc., located in Foothill Ranch, has grown and continues to focus on the safety of the individual worker.

Ms. Del Toro ensures that her business keeps up with and leads industry trends and offers relevant training to threats workers face in today’s workplace. A current training trend is Active Shooter Threat Awareness. ehs International, Inc. has been presenting this class for over a year and there’s no signs of the program slowing down. In August, ehs International, Inc. hosted a Client Appreciation Day at Artemis Defense Institute (ADI) in Lake Forest. Clients were able to try the active shooter simulator and other scenarios that ADI offers. Krav Maga of Orange County then taught clients hands-on self-defense methods. Clients left the event feeling empowered!

ehs International, Inc. presented their Active Shooter Threat program for free at the Tri-State Seminar in Las Vegas in September. The seminar included members of California Water Environment Association (CWEA), Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA), and Arizona Water Association (AWA). These three groups serve over 11,000 professionals in the water and wastewater industries. Las Vegas media covered the class, which drew a record 300 conference attendees. Krav Maga of Las Vegas assisted John-Isaac Chadwell of ehs International, Inc. with the hands-on portion of the program to teach members techniques they can use to take action against an active shooter.

ehs International, Inc. is bringing the Active Shooter Threat training to more industry, community and school groups for 2014. The threat of an active shooter continues to be real throughout the United States and abroad. With recent active shooter events at LAX and the Garden State Plaza Mall in New Jersey, it only shows that this type of violent and senseless attack can strike at anytime and at any place. In 2010 there were close to 600 workplace homicides in the United States alone. Training on “Active Shooter,” is essential. This type of proactive training helps employees to develop the survival mindset and learn methods to help prevent, deter, and survive a hostile situation.
