Rain Should Continue Through Monday Morning

More than a half-inch of rain fell from the storm Sunday that pelted Rancho Santa Margarita.

The rain that swept through Rancho Santa Margarita on Sunday is likely to continue into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy showers dropped almost three-quarters of an inch of rain in a six-hour period Sunday, and the rain is unlikely to stop through late Monday morning.

The storm, which featured wind gusts up to 30 mph, accounted for 0.72 of an inch of rain during a six-hour period ending Sunday, 10 p.m.

The forecast for Monday calls for showers and possible thunderstorms prior to 11 a.m., with a 70 percent chance of rain. It is expected to clear as the day wears on, and Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny.
