Wanna Run for Rancho Santa Margarita City Council? Here Are the Deadlines
You can start pulling nominating papers as early as Monday.
November 2014 Statewide General Calendar:
- July 14: Nomination papers/declaration of candidacy commences
- Aug. 8: Last day to file nomination papers/declaration of candidacy
- Aug. 13: 5-day extension if incumbent does not file
- Sept. 25: Mailing of sample ballot pamphlets (approximate date)
- Oct. 6: First day vote-by-mail ballots are available and 29-day close of registration
- Oct. 20: Final close of registration
- Oct. 28: Last day to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot
- Nov. 4: Date of election
Interested in serving on the City Council? The following requirements must be met:
- Citizen of the United States
- Registered voter and resident of the city of Rancho Santa Margarita
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to take the oath of office and be able to be bonded in the amounts provided for by statute
