Santa Margarita Aims to Help Philippine Typhoon Victims

Relief drive is today as Santa Margarita Catholic hopes to aid victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

Submitted by SMCHS Key Club

The Philippines is currently experiencing large-scale devastation due to Typhoon Haiyan. Estimated damage projections stand currently at $14 billion dollars; even though many countries and agencies have rushed to aid, there is still a significant shortfall in the monies committed. Given the death toll of 3,982, the impact on clean water and other facilities necessary for life, as well as the amount of critically injured and ill, Key Club has organized a Philippines relief drive for Thursday, Nov. 21.

We ask that you consider sending a donation with your student on November 21 in the form of a check, made payable to SMCHS, or cash. Santa Margarita will issue one check to Catholic Relief Services which allocates 94% of the donations to direct on-site relief, with the remainder going to offset travel expenses and overhead for office and field workers.

Any donation you send with your student will serve a purpose in bettering someone’s life in the Philippines. Help us, in the spirit of Caritas Christi, raise the tide of aid in our “55 to High Tide” drive on Thursday, Nov. 21.
