Video/Poll: 24 Hours for a TV?

Black Friday gets off to an early start in Rancho Santa Margarita. Some shoppers have game plans, others wing it. Hundreds line up outside Target.

As the minutes ticked ever closer to midnight, more and more shoppers gathered into the growing lines at Target and Kohl's in Rancho Santa Margarita. By the time it opened at midnight on Friday morning, there were hundreds who had snaked around the corner of Target, and an hour later, after claiming their booty from the Black Friday sale, they would snake their way in line—past the pet supplies and the cosmetics—waiting for a cash register to open up.

It was all part of the Friday morning rush to begin the Christmas season, where there were long lines at Target and a shorter one at Gamestop where several were hoping to make their play for Zelda.

TVs were popular among those who were first in line at Target, while at Kohl's, which also opened at midnight, necessities—shirts, jackets, a vacuum cleaner—were targeted items by the first in line.
