“If people agreed with that idle rhetoric, Mr. Webb, you'd have the legislature controlled by your party faction (and I do not mean the GOP), and the mansion led by a member of the same.”
The above was a comment posted on my recent blog.
This was an excellent observation. What was left unsaid was what would happen if my faction led the government? Also left unsaid was who my faction is.
My faction is people who understand the Constitution. They know history and compare the U.S. experience to other countries. I like the comment by Dr.
Thomas Sowell; “Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past
three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded
good.”
Reading the history of the world we are reminded how lucky we are to live in a time of the highest wealth, the best health and an amazing standard of living.
Our world history is one of turmoil, wars and conquering armies led by Kings and Dictators. This grand experiment called the United States is the greatest success of mankind. People who actually choose their leaders, choose where to live, where to work and how to raise their families is recent and most unusual. My faction believes the government belongs to the people.
Golfer Phil Michelson is taking heat because he is balking at paying over 60% of his earnings to the government. How can someone make a case that over 33% of what a person earns belongs to the government? Worse yet, what kind of system tries to intimidate someone for resisting unreasonable taxes? My faction believes in a low, fixed tax rate where each citizen pays an equal share of what they earn. The person making $1,000 a year should still pay taxes. Everybody has skin in the game. My faction believes in equal and low tax rates.
Another Dr. Sowell comment: “It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.”
My faction believes the private sector can do it better in almost every case. In the guise of making it fair, protecting the uninsured and giving better health care we passed a National Health Care Program. The program is not yet in place and already the prices are rising. Following will be long delays in service, denial of service for the elderly and a system run not by doctors, but by bureaucrats.
Is my faction against all government? Of course not! But like the Constitution,
we believe most power belongs to the states. The Federal government is limited by specific, enumerated powers. The protection of our borders, the military,
interstate highways and a third party in disputes between the states make a lot
of sense. It is the nature of governments to expand. It takes strong, committed
people who have seen what happens when a government gets too much power, to understand the value of our Constitution. Our Founders and the authors of the Constitution understood this.
The Founders were so concerned they added a Second Amendment to the Constitution guaranteeing the right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, crime or target shooting; it has to do with protection from an over-reaching government. My faction believes in the right to keep and bear arms.
Higher taxes, a more intrusive bureaucracy, and a national health care plan tell me the big government crowd is on a historical high. In the coming months we will see gun control, cap-n-trade and yet higher taxes as the Democrats attempt to mold our future. My faction believes in the individual and not people who want to direct our lives.
The worse thing Conservatives could do at this time is to plan on quitting in the next four years. Our story is compelling. History, economics and human nature is on our side. My faction is for everybody having equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.
What will happen when my faction is in the Governor’s Mansion? California will
start growing at historical rates, businesses will stop leaving and people will be able to stay in their home state without worrying about taxes lowering their
standard of living. That is what my faction stands for.
Come now, John. Capitalism only applies to the little guy who owns the corner market. Capitalism died with TARP - a Republican and Democrat bailout of the Wall Street crooks. And the demise of capitalism took off like a rocket from there. We no more have capitalism in America than we have a constitutional republic. It's all gone. Today we have owners and peasants. I guess you have to decide on your own to which group you belong. It's not my place to tell others where they are in the pecking order. Each man has to be honest and come to that answer for himself.
"1) who do you want to lead this nation....names please?" I want a clean and uncorrupted political system that allows average Americans without a D or R after their names to have the opportunity to run for political office and actually have a chance to attain a seat of power instead of a bunch of party goons who represent either the likes of Frankenstein or Dracula. Those who are ostracized by the system have no names, Alty53. We never find out who they are because they refuse to be part of the one-party system. Make sense? "2)I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting?..." That's really no more your business than would it be for me to ask you about your personal sexual habits. I suggest you stay focused on opinions here. "2)I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting?..." I don't flame anyone. I do fight back when I'm attacked. My dad taught me to do that as a young boy and it stuck. The idea that someone would pay me for my opinions is absurd but if you would like to donate I will accept whatever you give. Have a nice day, Arty53. I hope you get over your nasty disposition.
Alty53, I, like most people on these boards, do not answer personal questions, like 'what do you do for a living?'. That's none of you business. If you have a question about the topic at hand, ask away. I'd be happy to answer like I did your #1 question. And I really couldn't care less what you do for a living or whether you are retired. But thanks for offering the information nevertheless. I love ideas. I love opinions. I enjoy reading other's opinions and giving my own. What greater motivation would there be than that, Alty53? Now go watch the Superbowl. I heard the 49'ers are favored. Take your mind off what I do for a living. heh. :^)
I approve this message.
In other words, your question was rhetorical, or for those who are stupid: "It didn't need to be answered." Well done, Sir. These "tea party" scum, I mean "patriots" are tiresome at best and well deadly boring at worst. They are to quote Dr. Avery "stunningly stupid." The only thing more moronic and unnecessary than a tea party patriot is a 29 minute delay in the Super Bowl because the Bush Administration was so lazy and stupid they didn't fix New Orleans. Party on!
Pang, drop it. You're busted as cowardly also. Get real dude. If you were truly so Zen you'd use you're real name.
I hate to be the messenger, Dan. But your hero is a phony. heh. I approve this message.
I imagine the ones made in China wear out quite easily.
I am JustUS. The thought that I am Tiny or Tiny Tom is ludicrous. But then just consider the source of said allegation. It makes sense. Perfect sense.
JustUs, shame you didn't actually read my piece on Obama. Maybe then you'd be able to have a discussion on him rather than jumping to inaccurate conclusions about what I think.
http://www.robeshop.com/academic.htm You're better than that, aren't you?
