What My 'Faction' Stands For

A blogger recently asked what would happen if my "party faction" took over Sacramento. Glad you asked.

“If people agreed with that idle rhetoric, Mr. Webb, you'd have the legislature controlled by your party faction (and I do not mean the GOP), and the mansion led by a member of the same.”

The above was a comment posted on my recent blog.

This was an excellent observation.  What was left unsaid was what would happen if my faction led the government?  Also left unsaid was who my faction is.

My faction is people who understand the Constitution. They know history and compare the U.S. experience to other countries. I like the comment by Dr.
Thomas Sowell; “Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past
three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded
good.”

Reading the history of the world we are reminded how lucky we are to live in a time of the highest wealth, the best health and an amazing standard of living.

Our world history is one of turmoil, wars and conquering armies led by Kings and Dictators. This grand experiment called the United States is the greatest success of mankind.  People who actually choose their leaders, choose where to live, where to work and how to raise their families is recent and most unusual. My faction believes the government belongs to the people.

Golfer Phil Michelson is taking heat because he is balking at paying over 60% of his earnings to the government. How can someone make a case that over 33% of what a person earns belongs to the government? Worse yet, what kind of system tries to intimidate someone for resisting unreasonable taxes? My faction believes in a low, fixed tax rate where each citizen pays an equal share of what they earn. The person making $1,000 a year should still pay taxes. Everybody has skin in the game. My faction believes in equal and low tax rates.

Another Dr. Sowell comment:  “It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.”

My faction believes the private sector can do it better in almost every case. In the guise of making it fair, protecting the uninsured and giving better health care we passed a National Health Care Program. The program is not yet in place and already the prices are rising. Following will be long delays in service, denial of service for the elderly and a system run not by doctors, but by bureaucrats.

Is my faction against all government? Of course not! But like the Constitution,
we believe most power belongs to the states. The Federal government is limited by specific, enumerated powers. The protection of our borders, the military,
interstate highways and a third party in disputes between the states make a lot
of sense. It is the nature of governments to expand. It takes strong, committed
people who have seen what happens when a government gets too much power, to  understand the value of our Constitution. Our Founders and the authors of the Constitution understood this.

The Founders were so concerned they added a Second Amendment to the Constitution guaranteeing the right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, crime or target shooting; it has to do with protection from an over-reaching government. My faction believes in the right to keep and bear arms.

Higher taxes, a more intrusive bureaucracy, and a national health care plan tell me the big government crowd is on a historical high. In the coming months we will see gun control, cap-n-trade and yet higher taxes as the Democrats attempt to mold our future. My faction believes in the individual and not people who want to direct our lives.

The worse thing Conservatives could do at this time is to plan on quitting in the next four years. Our story is compelling. History, economics and human nature is on our side. My faction is for everybody having equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.

What will happen when my faction is in the Governor’s Mansion? California will
start growing at historical rates, businesses will stop leaving and people will be able to stay in their home state without worrying about taxes lowering their
standard of living. That is what my faction stands for.

Who, or which kind of candidate, do you think would be best to run for president and governor?
JustUs February 03, 2013 at 09:15 AM
"I think a lot of it has to do with our thoughts that people trust Capitalism....." Come now, John. Capitalism only applies to the little guy who owns the corner market. Capitalism died with TARP - a Republican and Democrat bailout of the Wall Street crooks. And the demise of capitalism took off like a rocket from there. We no more have capitalism in America than we have a constitutional republic. It's all gone. Today we have owners and peasants. I guess you have to decide on your own to which group you belong. It's not my place to tell others where they are in the pecking order. Each man has to be honest and come to that answer for himself.

Well then the only real Christian thing to do, and following the principles espoused on the Sermon on the Mount, would be to fully implement Glass-Steagall.

Several question for you JustU....1) who do you want to lead this nation....names please?....2)I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting?...3) Are you being paid to flame everyone?...if so by who?
JustUs February 03, 2013 at 09:21 PM
Thanks for your questions, Alty53. "1) who do you want to lead this nation....names please?" I want a clean and uncorrupted political system that allows average Americans without a D or R after their names to have the opportunity to run for political office and actually have a chance to attain a seat of power instead of a bunch of party goons who represent either the likes of Frankenstein or Dracula. Those who are ostracized by the system have no names, Alty53. We never find out who they are because they refuse to be part of the one-party system. Make sense? "2)I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting?..." That's really no more your business than would it be for me to ask you about your personal sexual habits. I suggest you stay focused on opinions here. "2)I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting?..." I don't flame anyone. I do fight back when I'm attacked. My dad taught me to do that as a young boy and it stuck. The idea that someone would pay me for my opinions is absurd but if you would like to donate I will accept whatever you give. Have a nice day, Arty53. I hope you get over your nasty disposition.
Alty48 February 03, 2013 at 10:03 PM
@JustU....you did not answer any of my questions so let me repeat.......1) who do you want to lead this nation...NAMES PLEASE?....2) I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting? I am not asking you if you sleep with men or women. I am asking you what you do for a living....I am retired. What do you do for a living?...3) As for question #3, I will be happy to donate to the person you believe will make a good president of the United States. So tell me, give me a name. Finally, you claim you do not flame anyone....but you just flamed me for asking you simple questions about what motivates you to write thousands of words spending hundreds of hours giving out your unsolicited opinions to anyone who reads these blogs. So, I am soliciting your motivations.
JustUs February 04, 2013 at 12:11 AM
The last 2 questions you asked were clearly provocative, Alty53. So who exactly is the flamer here? You or me? Answer that, pal. Alty53, I, like most people on these boards, do not answer personal questions, like 'what do you do for a living?'. That's none of you business. If you have a question about the topic at hand, ask away. I'd be happy to answer like I did your #1 question. And I really couldn't care less what you do for a living or whether you are retired. But thanks for offering the information nevertheless. I love ideas. I love opinions. I enjoy reading other's opinions and giving my own. What greater motivation would there be than that, Alty53? Now go watch the Superbowl. I heard the 49'ers are favored. Take your mind off what I do for a living. heh. :^)
Alty48 February 04, 2013 at 01:23 AM
Let me try this once again.....You did not answer any of my earlier questions so let me repeat: 1) Who do you want to lead this nation...NAMES PLEASE?....2) I have reviewed most of your post...what do you do for a living besides spending scores of hours every week posting? I did not ask you earlier if you sleep with men or women, plants or animals. Your attempt at evading my question by twisting my words was sloppy . I am asking you what you do for a living. I am retired. What do you do for a living? What have you accomplished? Regarding your asking me for money, instead I will be happy to donate to the person you believe will make a good president of the United States. So give me a name. Finally, you claim you do not flame anyone....but you have flamed me for asking you simple questions about what motivates you to write thousands of words spending hundreds of hours giving out your unsolicited opinions to anyone who reads these blogs. I can give you dozens of examples where you flamed people. So, will you answer some simple questions or will you continue to hide behind your poorly thought out ideology, excellence at flaming people, and your anonymity?

Yes, isn't that grand? Legalize 11M-20M illegal indigents. Just look at the improvements that they've brought to the City of Los Angeles. So more is good. In fact, we should send cargo ships over to Africa, China, South America, India and bring as many unskilled poor as possible here and then raise the taxes some more so that we can support them. What a fabulous idea. I wish I would have thought of it. That way we can grow government bigger and bigger so that it can devour all of us! Cheers! Hail Atlantis! I approve this message.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:32 AM
Shri, In other words, your question was rhetorical, or for those who are stupid: "It didn't need to be answered." Well done, Sir. These "tea party" scum, I mean "patriots" are tiresome at best and well deadly boring at worst. They are to quote Dr. Avery "stunningly stupid." The only thing more moronic and unnecessary than a tea party patriot is a 29 minute delay in the Super Bowl because the Bush Administration was so lazy and stupid they didn't fix New Orleans. Party on!
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:34 AM
"JustUs" is "tiny" if you know what I mean...say no more say no more, nudge nudge wink wink eh governor?
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:35 AM
Whoa! Did someone say "pills?"
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:37 AM
Hey JustUs, name two other people who have won the Nobel Peace Prize. In fact, name two writers who have won the Nobel Prize, I dare ya. Come on, dude, surely you can Google it.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:39 AM
John, Here is the real deal. We aren't all that divided. We have the sane folks and then we have your contingent. And I say that because I really respect you. But seriously, man, most of us are not all that far apart. Me and Frank Ury, a matter of degrees. Me and Sherri Butterfield a matter of degrees as it on two end zones, Me and You: two planets separated by black holes and all sorts of stuff....
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:41 AM
Right On shelly. And what does that suggest about "Just Us" other than it was a Richard Pryor joke that was funny 35 years ago?
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:44 AM
shelly, JustUs is a coward who is a serious coward. He'll never use his real name. One because he is a racist and he isn't dumb. He knows they will come for him someday. Also he can troll and then change his name to something like Johnny Utah, or William Bonney, or Bobo, or tiny, or tiny tom, or insert your favorite troll here. He is not to be take seriously.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:45 AM
Yo Justus, She said she stuided Chemistry and Psychology. Not that she's a psychopharmcolotist. That was just your own stupidity and attempt to bully. What a fool.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:48 AM
Notice that "tiny" and "tinytom" come to the aid of "JustUs." Gee how how is it to log out and then log in under "tiny" and then log out and log in under "tiny tim"? Take about what two minutes? Pang, drop it. You're busted as cowardly also. Get real dude. If you were truly so Zen you'd use you're real name.

Raising my hand on the ironic thing
JustUs February 04, 2013 at 05:50 AM
Dan, I know you don't have much of a sense of humor, but even you must laugh that Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize then afterward shelled Libya with over a billion dollars of US missile calling it a 'kinetic war for humanity' without even conferring with Congress let alone getting their approval for such a military action. And he armed the rebels, some of whom were Al-Queda operatives, who assassinated a sitting President, which is a war crime. Our missiles also killed the young grandchildren of the Libyan President at his compound. And naturally the Libyan arming of the rebels led to Benghazi - another blood stain on the hands of the Obama administration. And they you have the Nobel Peace Prize winner authorizing the purchase and shipment of 2500 assault weapons across the Mexican border and into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels under an operation called "Fast and Furious'. Weapons that murdered thousands of innocent mexican citizens and even a US Border Patrol agent. Did the Nobel Peace Prize winner ever invade Dafur, Somalia, etc...where literally millions of black people were slaughtered by totalitarian governments. Nope. Why not? Easy answer. NO OIL OR COMMODITIES OF VALUE! heh. I hate to be the messenger, Dan. But your hero is a phony. heh. I approve this message.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 05:52 AM
The central committee is a bunch of fools because they are afraid of Larry Gilbert who is the most foul-mouthed hypocrite in Mission Viejo, He has never dealt off the top of the deck and if there is indeed a Hell Larry will be kneeling on the other side of the glory hole
JustUs February 04, 2013 at 05:54 AM
Dan, did you get a new pair of tweezers for Christmas? I imagine the ones made in China wear out quite easily.
Panglonymous February 04, 2013 at 07:07 AM
Busted for what, Dan?
JustUs February 04, 2013 at 07:22 AM
I always thought that Tiny Tom was Kampathy based on style of writing. Tiny has been around for a long time and I think is independent of Tiny Tom. I am JustUS. The thought that I am Tiny or Tiny Tom is ludicrous. But then just consider the source of said allegation. It makes sense. Perfect sense.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 09:06 AM
And rather than name two people who won it, and two writers who won it, JustUs instead named one person who won it so he could bash him. Doh! JustUs, shame you didn't actually read my piece on Obama. Maybe then you'd be able to have a discussion on him rather than jumping to inaccurate conclusions about what I think.
Dan Avery February 04, 2013 at 09:12 AM
The source being someone who studied reading and writing for seven years at two of the best English departments in the country and taught both for 18 years...and we would listen to you, JustUs, because?
Panglonymous February 04, 2013 at 02:28 PM
Good start, Brother Dan. Now don the regalia so we know who you really are. http://www.robeshop.com/academic.htm You're better than that, aren't you?
