Fun Valentine's Day Care Packages From Home

I have to admit, I’m smitten with all the Valentine’s goodies lining the store shelves and it has reminded me this is the time to start planning a care package from home to college students or for a sweet surprise to someone special.  After all, half the fun is in planning what you're going to put together so while the stores have plenty of colorful, fun things in stock why not get stuck with the arrow of creativty now?

In the photos, you’ll see a Valentine’s Day Collegiate Care Package I put together for my boys. By the time mid-February rolls around a taste of home is most welcome and to make it more fun for me, instead of just sending cookies in a plain box, I tend to go a little overboard on the corniness. It’s the one day that I can get away with it and really, are our kids ever too big to receive some Valentine's Day fun from home? I think not.

The hero of the package was a batch of unfrosted chocolate cupcakes with a container of icing and customized sprinkle packets with a science theme that corresponded to their majors. Cupcakes were the perfect fun food to share with roommates and friends.

The tags and images were made using a basic graphics program, Print Master, and card stock paper found at Staples.  The eye rolling puns were all mine. (Should I really admit to that?)

6. "You're the icing on the cake" container of chocolate icing
7. Customized "Particle Theory" Sprinkle Packets
8. "Got Milk Money?" extra cash moo-lah
