The Best BBQ Burgers Ever

Burgers and summer seem made for each other. Here's a great recipe full of flavor. Perfect for Father's Day and the 4th of July.

Burgers and summer seem made for each other.  Here's a great recipe full of flavor.  Perfect for Father's Day and the 4th of July.

Best BBQ Burgers Ever
serves 6 - 8

2 lbs. ground chuck
2 Tbl. BBQ sauce of your choice, plus more for serving
1 Tbl. Heinz 57 steak sauce
2 Tbl. minced onion
1 Tbl. spicy brown mustard
1 Tbl. Worcestershire sauce
3 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. Louisiana hot sauce (more or less depending on taste)
1 tsp. kosher salt or seasoned salt
1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

6 to 8 hamburger buns (brioche are my fav), toasted or grilled.

Other burger accompaniments to have on hand: sliced garden tomatoes, sliced onions, sauteed mushrooms, cheese, jalepenos.

Mix all ingredients together from the meat to the pepper. Form into 6 - 8 patties 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.

Place burgers directly over coals, cover and grill to your preferred degree of doneness, 5 to 7 minutes per side for medium rare. Do not over cook. Serve on toasted or slightly grilled buns (brushed with melted butter is optional). Top burger with tomato, onions, cheese or sauteed mushrooms and and extra spread of of BBQ sauce.
