Local Drowning Victim Services to Be In Inland Empire

Matthew Santistevan's life will be celebrated in Lake Elsinore, where he will be buried near his father.

A viewing and funeral services for a Rancho Santa Margarita man who drowned in Lake Mohave are scheduled for Sunday and Monday in the Inland Empire.

Matthew Steven Santistevan died August 14. According to his wife, Debbie, he had just finished lunch and had gone into the water to cool off after a day of boating with friends and family. He was discovered missing shortly thereafter, and resuscitative efforts failed after bringing him to shore.

Santistevan was 49. He was the third person in an 11-day span to drown in the Lake Mead Recreation area.

Santistevan was a technician who had worked at Parker Hannifin for 23 years; he had lived in Rancho Santa Margarita for 13 years.
