Dear Misinformed...the POOL MONITORS at the beach club are CPR certified and properly trained.  That being said, as a mother, I never assumed that anyone would be responsible for the safety of my child, while I was present.  I don't want to judge this mother, as I'm sure she has enough pain and guilt to go around.  It is unfortunate that many things could have been done differently.  In response to the confusion about safety breaks...unfortunately these comments are made from totally misinformed individuals.  We all have to comply with rules and laws in life.  The whistle isn't blown to "tell your child to get back in the water".  It is an indicator that the break is over and that "YOU" as the parent may "ALLOW" our child to go back in the water, if "YOU" as the parent so "CHOOSE".  It is unfortunate that "YOU" as the parent are not mindful of the whistle being blown and your child unbeknownst to you is getting back in the water.  One more note: There are signs posted at the beach club "Children under the age of 6 need to be within 10 feet of an adult while in the water."  This hopefully clears up some of the confusion...these are rules that I have observed as a resident/parent over the years.  My prayers go out to all involved...it is a sad, sad day.
