A Swing And A Miss For Punchy Pugilist

Canyon Fireside Grill is site of brief exchange between tipsy resident and clear-headed bartender. It's no contest.

It probably seemed like a good idea at the time, but a local resident who spent a night of drink at the Canyon Fireside Grille probably wishes he could have back the moment.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a patron at the Rancho Santa Margarita restaurant allegedly had too much to drink and opted to take a swing at the local bartender.

He missed.

Instead, the barkeep and restaurant owner pinned the man down until sheriff deputies could arrive, according to the blotter.

Neither the bartender nor restaurant wished to press charges, and the punchy pugilist was taken home by deputies.

The incident took place about 11:25 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.
