All That Noise? A Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On

A Jerry Lee Lewis concert is child's play compared to what transpired Wednesday throughout South Orange County.

Orange County Sheriff Department received calls about loud noises on Wednesday, including one from a person who thought her home was being burgled.

Ultimately, there was a pretty easy explanation, albeit one that was unsettling at the time for anyone trying to sleep—and for many who weren't.

The concussive shaking came from action on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base. A woman on El Vado Drive in Rancho Santa Margarita said the back windows rattled, causing the woman and her husband to think someone was trying to enter their home.

Another caller indicated that the whole house was shaking.

The calls came late at night, about 11 p.m. The exercise continued until about midnight.
