Schenck is the mother of the children, and Martin Cisneras Rosales is the father of the boy, according to a broadcast report.

Schenck was with the children when they were located, but Martin Cisneras Rosales was not, Sgt. Matthew Locuson of the Elko Police Department told City News Service.

The children are now in protective custody and have been ordered by a court in Nevada to be returned to that state, Locuson said. He did not know how or precisely where in Sacramento the children were located.

At the time of their abduction, the children were in the care of the Division of Child and Family Services and were taken in violation of court orders, according to television station FOX5.

Police feared for their safety and had warned that Martin Cisneras Rosales has violent tendencies when dealing with law enforcement and is the subject of an active warrant as well as a restraining order barring him from contact with his son, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"Our representatives from Elko Child and Family Services have been notified and are going to be picking up the children," Locuson said.
