Cops Catch Alleged Burglary Suspects In the Act

There's only one problem, however, and it's a big one.

Hard to know if people are on edge and jittery, or more aware and diligent about looking after their neighbors given the rash of burglaries that have occurred in Rancho Santa Margarita.

A local resident thought he saw a couple of males who may have been responsible for more than a half-dozen recent thefts, many between the 241 toll road and Antonio Parkway in the north end of town.

The informant contacted the Orange County Sheriff's Department on Friday, 3:01 p.m., to report a burglary in progress on Via Solano—in an area that has been popular with the burglar(s).

The informant spotted two men in a van who parked in the driveway of a neighbor's house. Both men were wearing backpacks. One man went to the back of the house and then the other went through the front door.

Deputies arrived on the scene only to report that there was no burglary taking place. One of the suspicious subjects was a resident at the home.
