Crime: The Old 'Medical Marijuana on the Patio' Trick

Mary Jane apparently had several ailing friends over the weekend. Those and other calls to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

We're guessing deputies had a hard time keeping a straight face when they responded to this call late Sunday night in Rancho Santa Margarita.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, an informant called on police services to report the smell of marijuana wafting through the window into her upstairs unit; the smell was coming from young males in the unit below.

Deputies arrived on the scene and went to the offending unit, where they spoke to a subject who admitted the woman did, indeed, smell marijuana.

The subject—alone by the time deputies arrived almost 30 minutes later—told deputies that he had friends over earlier in the evening and the friends were smoking medical marijuana on the patio. He also assured deputies that in the future, he would keep his apparently ailing friends inside.

The call was made Sunday, 10:06 p.m., from the 100 block of Via Serena.

And then there's the 'Medical Marijuana at the Pool' Trick
An informant reported a male in the pool area of the complex was smoking marijuana. He told a deputy that he was a prescription for medical marijuana.

No action was taken.

The call came Sunday, 9:50 a.m., from Mira Mesa.

To make a point, threaten his Porsche
The happiest place on earth wasn't so happy for a Rancho Santa Margarita man and a female friend.
She called 9-1-1 to report she was outside his residence and her boyfriend was inside unpacking her suitcase. The man eventually got on the phone and said the woman was demanding he give her gas money.

The woman apparently drove away in her Expedition, but not before threatening to ram his Porsche.

When deputies arrived, they got a version from the male who said the woman was an old friend from out of state and they had gotten into an argument while at Disneyland; when they returned to the residence, he asked her to leave.

He said the woman got upset, packed her bag and left after a brief argument about damaging cars.

The call was made Sunday, 5:45 p.m., from Wild Horse Loop.
