Crime: There's A Way to Celebrate, and This Isn't It

Also, a neighbor suspects nefarious activity in the garage. That, and other calls to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Everyone wants to celebrate big events—birthdays, anniversaries, getting out of jail.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a Rancho Santa Margarita teenager celebrated the latter in the worst way possible.

The mother of the 17-year-old boy called 911 after she was notified by her husband that their son had just gotten out of jail and had an unknown number of friends over to the house to smoke some dope, allegedly.

The son had been in jail for violation of probation.

The mother called while she was en route to the residence.

The call was made Wednesday, 4:41 p.m., from Arbor Walk Lane.

Or he could be doing spring cleaning

A caller from Villa La Paz reported a man with a long goatee and a tank top who keeps opening and closing his garage door. The caller believed the man was "manufacturing" something inside the garage.

The call was made Thursday, 12:46 a.m., from Amistosa. 

They didn't think it was Spam

A man contacted sheriff deputies regarding a lunchbag that was left by the office. The bag contained several plastic yellow blocks, approximately 8 inches square by 1 inch high.

The call was made Wednesday, 3:42 a.m., from the 26800 block of Coto de Caza Drive.

The following is a summary of selected calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Trabuco Canyon, Coto de Caza and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on April 3-4, 2013.

Disturbance, Thursday, 11:53 p.m., from Amistosa. A caller reported a man and woman were fighting in their apartment.

Disturbance-music or party, Thursday, 10:51 p.m., on Los Platillos. A caller reported a loud party with underage subjects smoking marijuana.

Suspicious person in vehicle, Thursday, 9:42 p.m., 29900 block of Altismima. A caller reported a four-door sedan occupied by subjects smoking drugs.

Assist outside agency, Thursday, 4:09 p.m., Antonio and Via Ladera. An 8-year-old boy locked himself in a park bathroom and his mom’s key card wouldn’t work. Others volunteered their cards but the mechanism was apparently broken. About 30 minutes after the call, someone from SAMLARC arrived with a key.

Disturbance, Wednesday, 9:37 p.m., from Antonio and Las Flores. Someone reported four subjects smoking drugs in the dugout at La Canada Park.

Disturbance, Wednesday, 6:49 p.m., from Rancho Cielo and Plano Trabuco. Three males were in a blue Saturn SUV; one of them had his naked bottom hanging out the window.

Assist outside agency, 5:58 p.m., on Spring View Way. An informant's 70-year-old husband was on the floor and it was unknown if he was breathing; the informant was hysterical. it was determined within six minutes of the call that the husband was breathing.

Suspicous person/circumstances, Wednesday, 5:22 p.m., 20900 block of Morningside. A woman saw either a person in yellow jumping up and down, or something flapping in the wind. It was in the wilderness area above her neighborhood and she didn't know if it was related to the missing hikers in Trabuco Canyon.

Citizen assist, Wednesday, 5:22 p.m., on Mohave. A woman reported someone had come onto her property earlier in the day and smashed up her plants.

Stolen vehicle, Wednesday, 4:35 p.m., on Orion. An 11-year-old boy reported his mother had just run out of the house yelling that a Mercedes Benz was stolen. The father got on the line and said a female skateboarder may have hit a vehicle and is unconscious. OCFA confirmed it was a 17-year-old skateboarder who fell and there was no stolen vehicle.

Suspicious person/circumstances, Wednesday, 3:19 p.m., on Villario. An informant called and relayed a second-hand story from a 10-year-old neighbor boy who heard someone try to open his front door. The boy answered the door and it was a man asking about lawn services. The boy closed the door and saw a man walk into the backyard, then return and try to open the front door. The neighbor said she would remain with the boy until the mother arrived home.

Assist outside agency, Wednesday, 2:11 p.m., on Rosa. Deputies assisted a woman doing a welfare check on a subject to see if he was a danger to himself or others.

Disturbance—music or party, 12:27 p.m., on Romero. An informant reported kids were playing in the pool and being too loud.

Suspicious person/circumstance, 11:41 a.m., on Crucillo and Blackberry. A woman was concerned about an older gentleman, possibly Chinese, who didn't speak but kept handing her a paper written in ink in an unknown language with numbers on it. The man appeared to be disoriented. Deputies took him home.

Assist outside agency, Wednesday, 9:03 a.m., Robinson Ranch and Plano Trabuco. An informant reported its mother was in abdominal pain and they had been fighting. The informant went to a bedroom and locked the door.

Welfare check, Wednesday, 8:49 a.m., on Rosa. An informant reported a subject had made several threats to murder his family and was now at the residence, although it was unknown if anyone else was at the residence. Per the anonymous informant, the subject was back on his medication for schizophrenia.

Vandalism report, Wednesday, 4:18 a.m., on Calle Arcos. A man reported someone broke the window in his white van.

Suspicious person in vehicle, Wednesday, 12:43 a.m., on Via Maya. A black Honda Accord was occupied by four subject who were possibly smoking drugs.
