Deputies Foil Break-In at Church

About nine hours before Sunday School, a man helps himself to the office at Trabuco Presbyterian Church.

An alarm that detected motion at Trabuco Presbyterian Church led to the arrest of a 32-year-old unemployed man Sunday in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Deputies responded to an audible alarm at the church and discovered an open door to an office building. They heard movement inside, and after setting up a perimeter called for a K-9 unit.

As deputies were making a K-9 announcement, a man ran from a rear door. Erik Jacob Clement was immediately taken into custody without incident.

There was no reported loss at the church, which is located at 31802 Las Amigas.

Deputies responded to the incident Sunday, about 12:31 a.m.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
