Emergency Could Be Fixed With Flip of A Switch

A woman put 2 and 2 together and it equaled 9-1-1.

Panic struck a woman in Las Flores earlier this week when she called 9-1-1 to report that her house was on fire.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the woman hung up on the 9-1-1 operator before she could be transferred to the Orange County Fire Authority.

However, the woman called back a few minutes later to report that upon further inspection, her home wasn't on fire.

She had seen a glow around the edges of the attic access and thought the upstairs was ablaze. The glow was caused by the light in the attic being left on by workers from last week.

OCFA continued to the scene to perform a safety check.

The call was made Tuesday, 5:59 p.m., from Willowbrook Lane.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
