Fiery Trabuco Crash Injures 3

One person is critical after rollover near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek.

A fiery rollover crash in Trabuco Canyon injured three people Thursday, an Orange County Fire Authority captain said.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at 12:42 p.m. on the Holy Jim Trail about 2.5 miles from Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek, in a wilderness area popular for four-wheeling, said Capt. Marc Stone.

The teens were in a pickup truck that rolled over into a ravine and caught fire, he said. Flames consumed the vehicle and burned some vegetation, but firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, Stone said.

An OCFA helicopter was doing training exercises close by in Irvine at the time of the crash, and was able to get to the scene quickly, Stone said.

The victims were about 18 years old, Stone said. A male, who was ejected from the truck, was airlifted to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo with life-threatening injuries, Stone said.

The other victims -- one male and one female - were also taken to hospitals, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, Stone said. Their names were not released.
