Fire Weather Is Back
Be careful with those matches and ashes. It's going to be a blustery day.
A red-flag warning was in effect Tuesday morning in portions Orange County, raising the danger of wildfire because of high winds, low humidity and warm temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Northeast winds were expected to peak this morning, primarily through and below passes and canyons, according to the weather service.
Local gusty winds will continue to be strong through the afternoon and weaken in the evening. Low humidity will continue through Thursday, but winds will be much weaker.
Relative humidity in the single digits and temperatures reaching the upper 70s were also forecast for today.
"A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create extreme fire (danger)," according to a National Weather Service statement.
The Orange County Fire Authority received notification of the red-flag warning from the National Weather Service which began at midnight and will continue through 6 p.m.
