An attorney charged with killing a cyclist while driving under the influence of Xanax and other prescription drugs is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday.

Hashti "Haley" Bayrooti, 39, of Rancho Santa Margarita, killed cyclist Eric Billings, 54, in March on Santa Margarita Parkway near Trabuco Hills High School.

Last month Bayrooti was arrested and charged with one felony count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. She faces a maximum four years in state prison if convicted.

Bayrooti told Patch she was taking medication for several mental disorders at the time of the accident, including antidepressants, but said she was not impaired.

Billings, owner of a small construction company, was a youth leader at his church, the Rancho Santa Margarita Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a father of four.

Bayrooti is currently out of custody on $100,000 bail.

Deputy District Attorney Anna McIntire of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
